We all know that
feet are one of the most important parts of the body and that we should pay more attention to them for a healthier life. All of this is true, but do we really know why they are so important? We will explain some of their meanings so that we can raise awareness and nourish it better with knowledge.
Importance of Feet
There are many factors that make them important. We can start with the most physical part: Feet symbolize roots and firmness. When we have
problems with our feet, it symbolizes that we have a conflict with our understanding, with the way we understand our life, the fear of not knowing or being able to move forward in our path/life. The feet keep us upright, allowing us to move and walk forward. They are the ones that give us balance to prevent us from falling. Biologically speaking, the foot consists of 26 bones, not counting the joint with the leg (tibia and fibula). The team and the shape of the 26 bones provide us with the stability to remain upright. They are also the first to absorb the impacts from the floor. They are our shock absorbers that transmit the tension to the ground. But they have much more significance.
Feet ground us, they keep us in the present and give us the opportunity to move toward the future or, on the contrary, guide us toward the past. If we look at a person who tends to think always about the past, we will see that this person feels like they cannot move forward and lives in the past. If we observe this person walking, we will see that they take small, slow steps with a hunched and low posture. It's as if their feet are not moving forward and want to keep them "back." In contrast, if we look at someone always alive, thinking about the future, when we see them walking, they take fast, long, and big steps with an upright body posture, as if they can't wait and are always running toward what’s coming. This reactive power in the knees and hips helps keep us balanced with muscles, ligaments, tendons, the nervous system, etc. We have also reflexively represented our entire body in each foot, and many nerve endings stop here. The left foot represents our right brain, it is our more feminine sensory side, it shows the future, the unconscious, while the right foot represents the left hemisphere, the more masculine part, representing consciousness. It’s also important to know that here we are receiving energy from the Earth, and it serves as our way to discharge. These are some of the reasons we should be aware of our feet, what they symbolize, and how their health can affect our lives.
After seeing the great significance that our feet have in our lives, we must take care of them, as they are very tense throughout the day, and they work hard. They must be treated kindly and given attention at the end of the day. I will now share some videos from our online physiotherapy portal with helpful, simple, and effective tips
