Cuts, scratches, burns, wounds, acne, and even diseases like chickenpox can leave scars on the skin.
Scars form when the skin suffers an injury, and new tissue forms to cover it: they are like a skin patch created to heal the wound. It's part of the amazing self-healing process our body undergoes. However, although scars serve a repairing function after an impact on the skin, they are not always aesthetically pleasing, and although they may fade over time, they never disappear completely.
In this article, we will share how to reduce scars naturally.
Natural Treatments for Scars.
As is natural, the ideal is not to hide scars; what we all want is to eliminate them in some way, so we set out to find some treatments that are effective for this.
Aloe Vera
- Remove the dark green "skin" from the smooth side of the aloe vera leaf.
- Extract the clear, almost transparent gel.
- Apply the gel directly to your scar using circular motions.
- After half an hour, rinse the gel off with cool water.
- Repeat twice a day.
Vitamin E
- Open a vitamin E capsule over the scar and squeeze the oil onto it (you may need more than one capsule to get enough liquid to cover the scar completely).
- Massage the oil over and around the scar for 10 minutes.
- After about 20 minutes, rinse the oil off with warm water.
- Repeat this process at least 3 times a day.
Honey
- Before going to sleep, cover your scar with a layer of honey.
- Wrap the honey-covered scar with a bandage.
- Leave it on overnight.
- In the morning, remove the bandage and rinse the honey with warm water.
- Do this as part of your nightly routine.
Coconut Oil
- Heat a few tablespoons of coconut oil, enough to make it more liquid.
- Apply the oil by massaging it onto the scar for about 10 minutes.
- Let the skin absorb the oil for at least 1 hour.
- Repeat 2 to 4 times a day.
Apple Cider Vinegar
- Combine 4 tablespoons of distilled water with 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar.
- Soak a cotton ball in the water and cider mixture, and gently apply it to the scar.
- Let it dry.
- Do this every night before bed and rinse the area in the morning.
Lavender and Olive Oil
- Mix three drops of lavender essential oil with 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil.
- Apply the mixture by massaging the scar area for about 5 minutes.
- Leave the oil on the area for about 30 minutes.
- Rinse the area with warm water.
- Repeat this process at least 3 times a day.
Lemon
- Cut a piece of fresh lemon.
- Gently rub the juicy side of the lemon over the scar while squeezing the juice onto it.
- Relax for about 10 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
- Do this every day at about the same time.
Potatoes
- Cut a medium-sized potato slice into thick circles.
- Using a circular motion, rub the potato slice over your scar.
- Once the potato slice starts to dry, discard it and continue rubbing with another slice.
- Continue rubbing and replacing the slice for about 20 minutes, then leave the scar to dry for about 10 minutes.
- Rinse the area with cold water.
- Repeat this process at least once a day.
Rosehip and Frankincense
- Mix equal parts of rosehip essential oil and frankincense essential oil.
- Massage the mixture onto the scar.
- Wait 45 minutes before gently rinsing the area with warm water.
- Follow this procedure three times a day.
Baking Soda
- Mix distilled water gradually with 2 tablespoons of baking soda to form a paste.
- Moisten your scar with distilled water and then apply the paste to the wet scar.
- Keep the paste in place with a warm compress for 15 minutes.
- Rinse the area and repeat daily.
